We are always grateful for any support

We are always grateful for any support.

Although we are affiliated to Riding for the Disabled Association (our 'Trade Association’) we are a financially independent company providing therapy for disabled children. In order to meet our costs, we rely entirely on the generous donations that are made to Newbury RDA and through Fundraising Events run by our Volunteers and other kind people.

In order to keep our 1,000+ records up to date and secure we are looking to set up a DATABASE. This will reduce the time each class organiser (10) spends searching for and details of riders and volunteers. The database will hold records on training, DBS disclosures, Safeguarding etc in one place. It will expedite collation for research, surveys etc because all records will be accessible by responsible key people and kept centrally. This will negate the need for a paid part-time administrator who would have to continue to work manually with paper records and all those connected to them. In the long term this will save us considerable outlay.

In recognition of our charitable status, the data will be stored, free by Salesforce, worldwide providers of database solutions. Lindsay, one of our Trustees, has carried out an enormous amount of background work drawing up the specifications and permissions for the proposed database, which will save on set-up costs.

We are seeking help with the funding of employing a professional to program the database and are lucky enough to have been introduced to a semi-retired programmer, who is familiar with the Salesforce system to carry out the work on our behalf.

Please click here to link to our application on The Good Exchange website. All donations will be gratefully received.

We have gratefully accepted Greenham Trust’s offer to 'match fund' donations from individuals, fundraising, aggregated collections, commercial organisations and public bodies including local authorities that we receive through the Good Exchange Platform, as above.

We would like to thank Nvidia Ltd who brought a 50 strong group to undertake some well overdue tasks for us in June, and Rapid7 who helped us out for a day in October (reports elsewhere on the website). In addition, we would like to thank Downe House for their continued help sending small groups to dig up ragwort, clean water troughs etc. Without these work parties we would be hard pushed to keep on top of all the small jobs that mount up – so our grateful thanks to all those who left their office jobs for a day to help us out – we hope they enjoyed themselves!

A very special mention goes to Laura Stirling who set up a fundraising page through Virgin Money Giving in memory of her mother, Rosie, who sadly passed away as a result of an aneurysm and brain haemorrhage in May. Laura raised an overwhelming amount through family friends; the funds were split equally between Headway and Newbury RDA.

Headway supports patients and families who are recovering from aneurysms. Laura wanted to raise funds for Headway which does a huge amount to support patients from the John Radcliffe Hospital, in the hope that it can make a difference to them and others in this area.

Rosie volunteered as a coach with Newbury RDA for 25 years and all those who knew her were saddened to hear of her death. She thoroughly enjoyed her role with us and saw what difference riding made to the children.

Thank you to all those who ran the Great British Cuppa Tea tent at the Truck Festival in July. They raised a great sum for Newbury RDA even though the weather was challenging to say the least!

As always, enormous thanks go to all or our volunteers and supporters; to all those who ran fundraising events, especially the Autumn Fair; and to Merial Animal Health who provide annual vaccinations for RDA ponies countrywide.

The Trustees would like to thank the following for their generous donations.

• Mr Burrows

• Downe House

• Englefield Charitable Trust

• The Good Exchange

• Lloyds Bank Foundation

• Nvidia Ltd

• Mr and Mrs Phipps

• The Rind Foundation

And many other people who generously made donations to Newbury RDA.
